The 16-year old Aussie plans to sail to New Zealand, Fiji, Samoa, South America and South Africa before heading back to Australia, in an attempt to set a new world record and step in the footsteps of record holder Mike Perham.
An inspirational quote by Mark Twain accompanies the young adventurer, who left Sydney yesterday morning, after having bed farewell to family and friends.
“Twenty years from now on you will be more dissappointed by the things you did not do than by the things you did do. So, throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover” – Mark Twain
Jessica’s plans to sail around the world have been delayed by bad weather conditions during the last week.
Originally, her start had been due in early September, but when crashing into a merchant ship just off the coast of Australia on her very first day of the journey, Jessica was forced to return home and fix the damage the crash had done to her yacht Ella’s Pink Lady.
Her spokesman said, Jessica was relieved to be finally beginning her voyage.
