Key reacts on grieving dad’s email

Emily Jordan was killed in a riverboarding accident

English Tourist Emily Jordan, 21, died in an accident in April last year, when being trapped under water for 20 minutes while riverboarding with Queenstown’s Mad Dog River Boarding.

Her father Chris called for stronger regulation of adventure tourism in an email and suggested to replace the current self-regulatory system with a high-quality licensing system.

Tourism Minister John Key’s reaction: “Tourism is critically important to New Zealand and we must do all we can to ensure visitor safety.”
